The Dragon's Head Blog: International Workshop in Slovakia

The Taoist Tai Chi Society of Slovakia hosted a 2-day workshop in Bratislava on October 15 – 16. The workshop was led by Carmen Capilla. We welcomed over 170 participants from various countries: Belgium, Czech Republic, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, Poland and Spain.

The workshop started on Saturday morning in the school gym close to our clubhouse. We split into groups and we focused on finding balance, weight shifting, opening our bodies and improving awareness. Beside discussions on our practice and experiences we talked also about why we have started practicing Taoist Tai Chi® arts and why we continue to do so. Each group had tasks to do such as preparing refreshments and tea, serving food and cleaning.

As we did last year, we sold chocolate to support the Fenway project and this is still very popular.

About 30 members slept in the clubhouse, so it was pretty busy during the weekend. We did chanting on Sunday morning after breakfast. It woke us and prepared us for upcoming the practice. Then we continued in the gym and the program finished with lunch at 2 pm.

The weekend workshop passed smoothly. Participants cooperated together in groups on their tasks and practice and together we created a harmonious atmosphere. Thanks to the many members participating from Slovakia we are looking forward to celebrating the 20th anniversary of TTCS of Slovakia during the next year’s workshop.
