The Dragon's Head Blog: Dinner from ‘The Land of Smiles’

On Saturday August 18, approximately 40 participants gathered at the Tallahassee, Florida center for an afternoon intensive. While they practiced their Tai Chi and learned about different aspects of Taoist training, others practiced their Tai Chi in the kitchen.

Later that evening 60 people gathered in the transformed practice hall for a 5 course Thai dinner. The spring roll assembly line practiced working together in harmony to create a beautiful and delicious first course of fresh spring rolls and marinated cucumber salad. Servers practiced stillness in motion, moving plates, tureens, and platters of satay, coconut soup, pad thai, and Chinese broccoli from the staging area to the tables. The final course was a traditional Thai dessert of sticky rice and mango. Diners also enjoyed a local Tallahassee beer. Then dishwashers and clean-up crew transformed the space back to practice hall, ready for the next day’s classes.

This series of international dinners at the Tallahassee center is being held to raise funds for the repair and continued maintenance of our center.
